The Art Teacher - Paul Read

Cover:
Love it!

Synopsis:
Patrick Owen managed seven years at Highfields Secondary School without punching a pupil in the face. Unknowingly drawn into a war against his own pupils, Patrick's patience finally snaps as he finds himself the number one target with the boy the school just can't seem to expel. When one of his art students needs his help, she unwittingly pulls Patrick further into the line of fire, altering their lives forever. With the media circling and rumors of his involvement reaching new highs, Patrick must escape the world he lives in, or face the consequences

My thoughts and opinion:
Patrick Owen is an art teacher at a secondary school. He's in his thirties and lives separated from his wife Ana and three year old son Danny.

As soon as the new year starts, Patrick could directly see that some people in his class are trouble makers. Some don't listen to him at all and some don't show the respect he deserves as a teacher / authority. The worst pupil is Denis. He walks in with his phone and threatens to hurt Patrick if he won't get it back.

After a while, Denis is found dead and everything is tracing towards Patrick, even though he has an alibi.

That book was so fascinating and I was totally rooting for Patrick. And the plot twist was absolutely brillant!!

ZOO - James Patterson

Cover:
Passt zum Buch! :)

Klappentext:
All over the world, brutal attacks are crippling entire cities. Jackson Oz, a young biologist, watches the escalating events with an increasing sense of dread. When he witnesses a coordinated lion ambush in Africa, the enormity of the violence to come becomes terrifyingly clear.

Meine Meinung:

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

Cover:
It's so cute!

Synopsis:
Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan...

But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words... And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

My thoughts and opinion:
OH MY GOD. I'm identifying myself with Cath so much. The typical fangirl, who tends to write fanfiction and who'd rather stay at home on a Saturday night to watch some nerd stuff.

Absolutely brilliant. So cute, romantic and funny. I can highly recommend it to you!

Frankenstein - Mary Shelley

Cover:

The Strays - Emily Bitto

Cover:
It looks like a burned painting which of course fits the book!

Synopsis:
On her first day at a new school, Lily meets Eva, one of the daughters of the infamous avant-garde painter Evan Trentham. He and his wife are attempting to escape the stifling conservatism of 1930s Australia by inviting other like-minded artists to live and work with them at their family home. As Lily’s friendship with Eva grows, she becomes infatuated with this makeshift family and longs to truly be a part of it.

Looking back on those years later in life, Lily realises that this utopian circle involved the same themes as Evan Trentham’s art: Faustian bargains and terrible recompense; spectacular fortunes and falls from grace. Yet it was not Evan, nor the other artists he gathered around him, but his own daughters, who paid the debt that was owing.

My thoughts and opinion:
The story is about the friendship between Lily and Eva who already met as children. What started off as an unbreakable friendship was soon riddled with secrets and events that no one can easily forget.

What a powerful that shows the meaning of friendship and family. A very nice insight on how a family can survive on secrets, romance and pain. It's nice to see how a little commune is living its life after years have passed and to see if the friendship of Lily and Eva, that grew so strong still resisted to this day!

Nur eine Ewigkeit mit dir - Kristina Moninger

Cover:
Wunderschön <3 Passt auch perfekt zum Buch!

Klappentext:

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - J.K. Rowling

Cover:
ERMAHGERD.

Synopsis:
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

My thoughts and opinion:
Okay let me start off with saying this: Technically this is not a book and it's not a sequel to Harry Potter.

BUT the feels I had. It was so nice to be back in that story and read about my beloved people. There are some throwbacks in the book that might make you cry (cause it made me) and I wouldn't miss that book for the world. So great to have them back, they've been missed.

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen

Cover:
Fits the book perfectly!

Synopsis:
First published in 1813, "Pride and Prejudice," Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners - one of the most popular novels of all time - tells the story of Mr and Mrs Bennet's five unmarried daughters after the rich and eligible Mr Bingley and his status-conscious friend, Mr Darcy, have moved into their neighbourhood. "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife." So begins the novel, that features splendidly civilized sparring between the proud Mr. Darcy and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet as they play out their spirited courtship in a series of eighteenth-century drawing-room intrigues

My thoughts and opinion:
At first I really didn't like the book cause everything was just so focused on the mother's only priority: getting of her daughters married. Which by the way won't be any better throughout the book. But I just loved the chemistry between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. While at first they both had prejudices and wouldn't even want to talk to each other, their love slowly grows. Against all odds.

It's simply a classic and I can recommend it to everyone!
