Synopsis:
Xing Li is what some Chinese people call a banana - yellow on the outside and white on the inside. Although born and raised in London, she never feels like she fits in. When her mother dies, she moves with her older brother to live with venomous Grandma, strange Uncle Ho and Hollywood actress Auntie Mei. My thoughts and opinion:
Such a fantastic book! it's a bit slow at first but as soon as the story takes a turn it's very pleasant to read. Unfortunately racism and bullying is still a thing nowadays and PP Wong put it together in a way that feels like we're actually there. I love the plot twists, turn, friendships and slight hate towards characters (her grandma in particular - ugh). You just want to help Xing Li and kind of feel sorry for her. I can highly recommend this!
